The Living Room Cinema

The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton, a community-focused boutique cinema company, is pleased to announce that they will be opening a two-screen cinema in late spring of this year.

From the founder and the executive team behind the highly successful and respected The Living Room Cinema in Liphook, this new local cinema will provide a friendly and welcoming home from home for the local community in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton will play a leading role in the regeneration of Chipping Norton’s high street by repurposing the shopfront of the historic Harpers’ building and transforming it into a destination venue that transcends a chain cinema experience. The building most recently housed Harpers’, a family-run business which was a favourite shopping destination for both locals and tourists. Harpers had been a cornerstone of the Chipping Norton High Street for over four decades but has been left empty for many years. The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton will support the local economy working alongside other local businesses, curating a bespoke film programme, stocking local products and providing rewarding employment.

The film programme will be diverse, showcasing a range of popular and award-winning new releases, independent titles, family films, and under our Living Room Presents’ banner, documentaries, foreign language and arthouse gems. With a key focus on accessibility and inclusion, subtitled, audio described, autism friendly and parent and baby screenings will feature regularly in our schedule. Celebrate art on the big screen with the Exhibition on Screen series, live music concerts ranging from the legendary Andre Rieu to the visual spectacle of Coldplay, opera and ballet from the Royal Opera House and beyond, and theatre from the National Theatre.

A highlight of the programme will be our special events and In Conversation With” series. Special guests at our sister Liphook site have included Downton Abbey stars Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern; directors Simon Curtis (Downton Abbey: A New Era) and BAFTA-nominated Jim Archer (Brian and Charles); writer Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park) and director of the NT’s Good’, Dominic Cooke.

Beyond the screen, the foyer will provide a versatile social space with comfy sofas, stylish décor and a laid-back, modern vibe. Whether you wish to order a coffee or a cocktail, host a meeting, catch up with friends and family, use it as a home-working space or just come and read the paper, our relaxed all day café will transform into a vibrant, stylish cocktail and wine bar in the evening. Our staff will know your name and your usual tipple, your favourite seat, and your favourite film.

The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton will not be a members only cinema and will have a range of concession priced tickets available, in addition to both standard and premium seating. We will have a membership scheme for regular patrons with a range of membership options for all tastes: from Standard Membership to our limited-edition VIP Founder Memberships, with benefits include unlimited cinema for the member and a guest, complimentary drinks, a private screening, and an invite to the launch party.
