Based in the heart of the Cotswolds, The Chipping Norton Tea Set offers bespoke vintage tea parties for all occasions. Whether at your home or outside venue, whatever the celebration or time of year, we provide it all.
Food
As well as regular diets, we also specialise in gluten & egg free catering, so just ask when booking what the options are for your particular menu choice. Please note: there will be an extra charge of £1 per person for any special dietary requirements
Tea
We carry a standard stock of English Breakfast, Afternoon and Earl Grey tea together with filter coffee, but please just ask when booking if you’d like anything else and we will endeavour to fulfill your wishes
Sample Tea
Here at The Tea Set we feel it is extremely important for our brides-&-grooms-to-be to know exactly what to expect on their big day. So, to this end, we offer a free, no obligation sample tea for the couple here at ‘Tea Set Towers’ to show just what we can do and how it will look laid out on our beautiful china and linen
So, if you’re not too sure if afternoon tea is for you, or wonder if it will be filling enough for your guests, come along and ‘try before you buy’!
Vintage China
Our price per person includes the hire of our beautiful vintage china comprising cups & saucers, tea pots, three tiered cake stands and all the vintage cutlery to compliment your afternoon tea. Our china is a mis-match of many colours, patterns & styles, examples of which you can see throughout the site.
Vintage Linen
To really enhance the whole vintage look of your afternoon tea we supply beautiful linen napkins, all in different styles & colours, together with gorgeous hand embroidered tablecloths in whites, creams and ivory. These are also all included in the price per person.
Please note that we cannot supply vintage tablecloths for large round tables but use plain, ivory linen cloths as a substitute.
Service
Our team of highly trained and professional staff are on hand to provide a seamless, unobtrusive service for your event and for a small extra charge we can also provide service for pre-event drinks and bar work.
Our service is ideally suited for so many events, weddings, birthdays, hen parties, Christenings, leaving do’s and also funeral wakes and memorials, or any other occasion where people will gather, enjoy good food and have a chat over a lovely cup of tea.
The Beginnings…
The Chipping Norton Tea Set was born out of an unusual request for her 18th birthday from our director’s daughter. Having thought that a party was on the cards, no-one was more surprised than Tea Set founder Victoria, when her daughter requested a vintage afternoon tea party!
So, after scouring the local shops and farther afield, for pretty china, and also enlisting the help of a relative for the marquee, Victoria set about providing her first sumptuous feast for 65 guests, complete with flowers, bunting & balloons. Really keeping it in the family Victoria’s husband Stephen came up with the apt, “of the moment” name! And that, as they say, was that! The Tea Set — as it is fondly referred to — has gone from strength to strength, providing catering to many satisfied customers since it’s inception nearly two years ago, from weddings for over 100 to intimate hen parties for 8, it is the ideal way to celebrate, large or small.
We have graduated to a core staff of six who range in age from 16 to…well, a little older! We pride ourselves on our professional, yet friendly approach to serving the many guests at our varied events.
Wherever possible we try to use local, free range ingredients in all our cooking which pays dividends as our customers can tell the difference and appreciate our attention to detail.
