Mark Ellen spent his teenage years sitting in fields at the feet of hairy rock voyagers like Atomic Rooster and began writing for New Musical Express in the late ‘70s. He went on to edit Smash Hits, Select, Q, MOJO and the Word (helping launch the last three of them). His broadcast work involved VH1, BBC radio and the Old Grey Whistle Test, and he was one of the presenters of the BBC’s television coverage of Live Aid. He’s published a memoir, Rock Stars Stole My Life!, and now writes and podcasts, mostly about music.
