Graham Maw Christie is a friendly, creative and dynamic agency with an exclusive focus on non-fiction. Having worked for indie publishers as well as for one of the ‘Big 5’ Jane Graham Maw brings valuable insights and experience of all aspects of non-fiction publishing to her work as an agent. Founded in 2005, GMC now represents around 100 authors including Raynor Winn, Vex King, Sharon Blackie, Milli Hill and Sally Coulthard. During 2022 there was barely a week without a GMC book in the non-fiction bestseller lists and several of Jane’s writers have won awards and have a string of translation deals to their names. For general non-fiction she seeks out activists, psychotherapists, creatives, change-makers and thought-leaders. On the narrative/memoir side she is looking for beautifully crafted books that take the reader somewhere new – a time, a place, or an experience, while managing to be universally appealing. The topics her authors write about are often aligned to the changes readers are seeking post-pandemic.

Last year Jane inked over 30 new deals and many of her books rose to the top of their categories on Amazon; several were featured in the top 50 non-fiction charts, and a few hit the Sunday Times bestseller lists. For Jane, however, success is not just a numbers game: it is ensuring that authors feel supremely supported, and that the books they work on together make a special mark in the world.

Jane has been shortlisted as Literary Agent of the Year by the 2023 British Book Awards.
